Alternatively titled: Yahweh the Plague Bringing God of Disease, Decay and Death

Most Christians are familiar with the 10 plagues of Egypt, you know, the ones that God made sure to carry out to the bitter end going so far as to harden Pharaoh’s heart to make sure he could get to the part where he murders children in an act of cruel revenge. The story of the Exodus is one of the most popular and, bizarrely, beloved tales from the Bible.

We’ve established in past passages that Yahweh is a warlike God who enjoys giving over other tribes to complete slaughter or enslavement to the Israelites but the God of the Bible also has a habit of causing famine, disease/plague, death, etc. In fact all Four Horsemen are the sole domain of God and are under his command, not Satan’s. Almost all the evil done in the Bible is done by God or at God’s command.

(okay wrong Apocalypse but you get the idea ^)

The first story I want to focus on comes from Numbers Chapter 14. In this Chapter Moses and the Hebrews are STILL wandering around waiting to get to the promised land but every time they seem to get going on the right track someone disrespects or disobeys Yahweh and he sets them back a few steps. In fact this comedy of errors goes on and on for forty years according to the story, with the Israelites disobeying a God who literally rains down food from Heaven.

So God shows up and is pissed about the way the Israelites have been behaving, particularly because some scouts went to the promised land and returned with reports that it actually kinda sucks. God says to Moses,

How long will these people treat me with contempt? How long will they refuse to believe in me, in spite of all the signs I have performed among them? I will strike them down with a plague and destroy them, but I will make you into a nation greater and stronger than they.”

So here’s God threatening to strike down his own people and just set off with Moses and his elect few to start a separate nation of their own. Moses talks God out of it by saying this:

If you put all these people to death, leaving none alive, the nations who have heard this report about you will say,  ‘The Lord was not able to bring these people into the land he promised them on oath, so he slaughtered them in the wilderness.” (Numbers 14:15-16)

Here is Moses showing better moral restraint and more patience than God, if you ask me there are few verses that make it MORE obvious that this is a STORY and was never EVER meant to be taken as a literal history of shit that actually happened. God never said these things – how could he? How could Moses ever be right and show more compassion and more restraint than a PERFECT and MERCIFUL God?

So what does God do?

fuckthebible25

That’s right, he decides that the people responsible for all the bitching and moaning of his people should be punished rather severely by striking them down with a plague. For sharing their opinions of the promised land in a less than positive way these scouts weren’t just denied a place in that land they were actually executed by God via some kind of disease or plague.

A few chapters later we have another plague and we have a Bible quote that is easily one of my favorites, and here I’m not being sarcastic, taken totally out of context this would easily be one of the most metal-as-fuck Bible verses:

“He stood between the living and the dead, and the plague stopped.” – Numbers 16:48

Kinda reminds me of a kickass movie I just saw:

wyrmwood

The story is about a group of “sinful” Israelites who rise up against Moses. God decides its time to deal with the rebels, the unbelievers and those who just have it coming.

fuckthebible26

Interesting thing about this verse is the use of the phrase “realm of the dead”, other translations render it grave, still others prefer the term Sheol. This is because in Jewish belief there isn’t a Hell perse but rather a realm of the dead called Sheol. Some books of the Bible espouse this idea and suggest that everyone goes to Sheol not just the damned while other books, like Ecclesiastes, do not support the idea of ANY AFTERLIFE at all. I know, I know, I’m repeating myself, but it bears repeating that Jewish teachings and ideas on the afterlife are vastly different from Christian ones.

Immediately the ground does open up and swallow the followers of Korah, who was the on inciting the whole would-be rebellion. The Israelites decide the best course of action is to blame Moses and Aaron for killing off those who were swallowed up. God shows up and decides he’s done enough fucking around with the idea of punishing the Israelites. While Aaron is begging for God’s mercy on his fellow Israelites Yahweh is out amongst them spreading a plague and wiping out over 14,000 people.

You read that correctly – not only is the Biblical God obsessed with and continuously carrying out or commanding genocide against enemies of his people but he frequently murders entire swaths of his own chosen people when they disobey him. The verse I quoted before about standing between the dead and the living is in reference to Aaron who intercedes on the behalf of the Israelites and gets Yahweh to stop his murderous outburst.

Moses and Aaron once again are trying to prevent the horrible thing God is doing just outside their tents:

fuckthebible27

This whole exercise in story-telling shows a constant tug and pull, ebb and flow, with Aaron and Moses standing between God and absolute annihilation of the Israelites. The danger of the Bible comes from those who seek to make it more than mythology, more than theology, they seek to make it history, to live by its morals and passages as literally written. Of course even most Biblical literalists are not actually literalists, they do not practice the Jewish laws and cherry pick from them at will – BUT they are still trapped in a dangerous mindset.

They celebrate their chains, rejoice at the wickedness of their fictitious God and go headlong toward death with a fantasy of bowing and reveling beneath a massive throne where there is no escape and no end.

That is why Fuck the Bible exists, to get these people to see what the Bible actually says and, perhaps, after they think about it and actually read the damn Bible, get them to see it for the manmade fiction it is.

According to a search of the NIV Bible the word plague occurs well over a hundred times. If you are a Christian you serve a God of disease, or genocide, of mayhem and of war and no amount of pretending is going to change what the Bible actually says.

Fuck the Bible.

Alternatively Titled: One Night in Sodom makes a Strong Man Crumble

Few stories are more depraved and insane than the Biblical story of the scorching of Sodom and Gomorrah found in Genesis. God doesn’t merely unleash wrath he decimates and entire city and turns one woman into a pillar of salt for the mere act of looking over her shoulder at the desolation. Prefacing the story is Lot’s decision to move to near the cities, just outside the gates, until two apparently gorgeous angels show up. Almost immediately they are surrounded by an angry mob of perverts who want to gangbang the two angels that are staying in Lot’s house.

So what does Lot do? In one of the most disgusting and obviously anti-woman moments of the Bible Lot offers his two VIRGIN daughters up to the mob to be raped, lest a hand be laid on God’s angels. True to Biblical morality Lot shows that what’s really valuable in life isn’t your family but your relationship with the all powerful dictator in the sky. Let an angry mob rape your own daughters for God? SURE you would, IF you were a righteous man. And yes Lot is meant to be righteous in this story, after all he’s the one God has chosen to spare the wrath that’s about to fall.

noah19

Of course Lot later spends his time in a cave getting drunk and fucking and impregnating both of his OWN DAUGHTERS. Or, if you prefer the version that saves Lot some dignity, his daughters rape him by getting him drunk enough to have sex with them. Oh what wonderful family friendly fun the Bible is chock full of! It’s TOTALLY not an absurd book of mythology written by anonymous Iron Age zealots over the course of centuries, edited and translated multiple times and then arbitrarily smashed together by the Roman Emperor and his friends.

But this blog post isn’t about Lot and Sodom and Gomorrah or my dripping sarcasm, it’s about a later re-telling of the story found in the book of Judges which actually ups the ante on the barbarism, sexual violence and bloodshed of the original story. So kindly get out your Bible and turn to Judges 19.

The Bible retells a lot of stories in fact there has been some great scholarship out there which shows that many stories of Jesus’ life and miracles are re-tellings of Old Testament stories that borrow language directly from the Septuagint, the Greek Old Testament.

Here in Judges however we get an upgrade of the anti-woman themes of the Bible to an extreme level. At the beginning of the story a man visits the Father of his “wife”. I say the word wife but the actual word here is translated as Concubine all 37 times its used in the Bible. A Concubine for those unfamiliar is like a mistress but back then, since women were seen as lesser, men were allowed to have such extra women around. So our mysterious man goes to retrieve his Concubine after she leaves him to return to her Father’s house.

After some stalling from the Father the man get’s fed up and leaves with his Concubine in tow. They decide to stop in a town called Gibeah and an old man offers to take them into his house and treat them. Almost immediately the house is surrounded and guess who it is, it’s the rape mob from the story of Sodom and Gomorrah – this time they’ve come to rape the old man ‘s house guest. So what happens?

Just like in the story of Lot two people are offered to sate the lust of the crowd. Once again the man who owns the house offers his own virgin daughter but he also offers the crowd the Concubine of his guest. Keep in mind that in this version there are no angels to protect, the only ass this guy is saving is that of his house guest, by throwing two people out to be raped. The Concubine is raped, brutally abused, in this version of the story.

fuckthebible5

She isn’t even a consenting partner to the relationship she’s already in as she starts this story trying to leave her master. She is dragged along against her will and what does he do? He sends her out to be raped instead of taking it himself. And the verses of scripture, in this book Christians hand to little kids and tell them to believe, says that she was raped UNTIL DAWN at which time they let her go.

Fuck this fucking book

At any rate the story actually manages to get worse. The man collects his brutalized Concubine and here the text implies she has actually been RAPED TO DEATH, he takes her and cuts her into pieces mailing the pieces out like a deranged serial murderer in a bad CSI spin-off. This sickening shit is actually IN THE BIBLE that billions of people on this planet revere as a holy book. Don’t believe me? You should be reading along. The man commits this heinous act because he wants to motivate the Israelites into a war against the city of Gibeah because they raped her. Even though his decision to let her be sent out there, instead of him going out, is why she ended up raped to death to begin with.

You may be sitting there fuming saying, “yes but God didn’t condone any of this!”

And you’d be wrong. Reading along into Judges 20 God actually helps the Israelites conduct the war. He never condemns the man for his actions in having his Concubine raped  and then dismembering her. He never condemns the blood-thirsty way the Israelites seek revenge. He sends the Israelites out to fight and a massive war takes place.

What level of violence and bloodshed ensues? Tens of thousands are slaughtered and killed in the war that follows, a war directed by God and started by a madman who cut up his own Concubine after sending her out to be violently raped for an entire night.

This is a book Christians call Holy, this is a book they deliver into the hands of unsuspecting children and tell them its all true. And they brow beat them with threats of Hell, with threats of real-world reprisal, if they question this book. They tell them its not just A good book but its THE good book to end all good books. This is an obvious pile of horseshit to anyone who has actually read the damn book without the helplessly ignorant faith of an indoctrinated child or the willfully ignorant faith of someone self-deceived. Children naturally listen to what their parents teach them and religion insidiously takes advantage of this by spilling ancient lies into the minds of young people all over the world.

Fuck the Bible. Fuck it all throughout the night and do not allow it to go until dawn and then hack it into pieces and mail it to every Christian who has not actually taken the time to read it and digest its pages.

Please share this page if you agree that the Bible needs to be exposed for what it is and its vile contents disemboweled in the public square.

This first post is just meant to give some idea as to what this blog will consist of and why it exists.

I am much more confident in declaring what I know to be false than in asserting what is actually true. If there is one thing I know with unflinching certainty it is that the Bible, the collection of myths, fables and historical fictions, depicts in its pages one of the most monstrously evil deities ever concocted by the minds of men. The Bible is not just bullshit, it’s DANGEROUS bullshit, believed by billions of people worldwide. Some of these people appear to be rational and reasonable but somewhere in their minds is the poison of religion.

The stinger of being indoctrinated into the death cult that is Christianity has many barbs and for so many it is a lifelong affliction. For some the toxin digs deep, permeating through every thought process, blurring the lines between actual mental illness and batshit crazy religious irrationality. For others it is a cultural thing, something to do to strengthen ones resolve, to be comforted and to merely have a sense of community, belonging and love.

Unfortunately for those Christians who are pleasantly entranced by their religious beliefs the truth of the Bible is far from pleasant.

In this blog I will look at the Bible from a point of absolute rejection of its central premises, its fumbling attempts at morality and its more bizarre and little known passages. Above all the goal of #FucktheBible is to get people to actually read the Bible and come to the conclusion that its God is the product of mankind making shit up. You may think having Christians reach the conclusion that the God of the Bible is imaginary is an unreasonable goal BUT they ALREADY believe that for 99.9% of all other gods that ever existed.

How does the desert God Yahweh/El hold up against scrutiny? How do the behaviors, actions, attitudes and attributes of this God indicative of his being designed by humans? This blog will explore scripture and doctrine to expose Christianity and its scripture as an anti-human death cult centered around ritual blood-magic that culminated in a brutal human sacrifice all while being built upon Judaism, a vile bronze age mythology and set of amazingly unjust laws.
